One thing I have found to be true is the misconception some have about people who are locked-up. That is unless you have a loved one or yourself who has been behind bars. For those of you who are not in either category here's a secret...they are human beings just like you. They love, laugh and live. They get sad, mad and have issues just like the rest of the world.
I work with the ladies who are currently or have been in the Plus Program (Purposeful Living Units Serve). PLUS is a faith and character-based re-entry initiative. The focus is on strengthening spiritual, moral, and character development as well as life skills. This program is voluntary and shows (for most) they are ready for a positive change.

Complementing a man's life as his wife Ministries to the handicapped
Its been well over a year now since the Lord has allowed me to mentor ladies at the prison. I stand in awe at the way He orchestrates each situation, conversation and actions of all who are involved. I don't know whats in the hearts and minds of these ladies when they come to me, but He does. I find that its important to them that you are committed to come on a regular basis. In doing so you build trust which is the first step of getting to the real issues they are dealing with.
Do you know how many problems can be solved using your Bible? ALL OF THEM! The daily Spiritual Snack is designed to give you food for thought during the day. I began doing these about 3 years ago as a way keep God's children encouraged. Now my husband and I both send these out to our family and friends. We find in doing this it helps us to keep our focus on God and His Word.
