For day 21, we read chapters 103-107.
In Psalm 103, I love the repetition of the phrase “Bless the Lord, O my soul.” It is a wonderful reminder that we should praise the Lord continually. My favorite part of this passage is verse 17; “but the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him.” This is so beautiful! The wording here just reminds us that His love goes on forever and ever to those who love and fear Him.
Psalm 104 is beautiful, as the author takes so much time describing the details of all creation. From man to animal, sun to moon, mountains to valleys to waters. Everything on earth and in the universe has been created by Him and all creation looks to the Creator for life and sustenance.
Psalm 105 is neat to read, as it retells history and the ways God has delivered His people. I love how it says that they asked and He provided for them. We need to ask God for what we need and trust that He will be faithful to fulfill all that we require.
Psalm 106 is a great picture of the fact that there is nothing we can do to be taken out of God’s hand or lose our salvation in Him and His promises. The people of Israel repeatedly denied Him, worshiped false gods, lost hope, and did not trust in Him despite the numerous miracles He performed on their behalf. He punished their disobedience, as any loving Father should, yet did not remain angry but instead delivered them when they cried out in repentance. That is SO encouraging to me, as I myself will repent yet continue to stumble again with the same sin or struggle, lose my faith in His goodness, or act as though He is not in control. But I know that despite my own wickedness, because Christ died for my sins (all of which were future sins when He died on the cross), God still loves me.
Psalm 107 is wonderful in how it describes the provision of the Lord in our lives. Verse 9 says “For He satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul He fills with good things.” He truly does satisfy our souls and fills us up with all that we need. The entire chapter is filled with accounts of God delivering the souls of His people, displaying His faithfulness and steadfast love. It is so beautiful to read over and over again of the love He has for us. It’s overwhelming, and for that I am eternally grateful.
